See the demo information below for an explanation of the various demo accts available.
The demo/test server for the roster is populated with a random set of fabricated user data. A few accounts have some hard-coded attributes (such as status/permission types) to demonstrate the various functions of the tool.
Ikonboard integration is not enabled in this demo. Also, the demo database will regenerate itself each night at 3am. All changes will be lost.

| 7 | annc | What a person with the announce permissions would see |
| 8 | normal | What most users with no special permissions and Active status will see |
| 9 | scrapbook | A person with SCRAPBOOk privs... no diff inside roster, but works for modified Gallery |
| 10 | awards | A person with the AWARDS permission (under development) |
| Permission Type | Notes |
| SU | The SuperUser has all the abilities of other types and is the only one able to set permissions for others. |
| ADMIN | The Admin may add or modify any info (except permission levels) of any other user. |
| AWARDS | Given to the President and State Director, these people may access birthday info that they need for Awards forms. |
| BUDDY | Because we are an organization of over 300 members, we offer an experienced member as a buddy to new members to help them get involved. |
| SCRAPBOOK | Not specific to roster data, but will be exported to Gallery to allow certain members to update our online scrapbook. (still under development) |
| NEWSLETTER | The club newsletter editor has the ability to edit the roster data for anyone that has a status of 'State'.. ie. a State level officer that is in our database only so we can send them our newsletter automatically. |
| ANNOUNCE | We have a 'direct' mailing list that for our purposes is used very rarely, and only for very important/emergency announcement (like a cancelled meeting due to an ice storm, etc). Only members with this permission are able to use the tool to deliver their announcement. Members may elect to not receive these announcements via a preference item on their roster info page. For less timely things, we simply have Yahoo groups. |
| Permissions are bit-mapped so that any member may be given any combination of permission types at the same time. | |
| Active | A current member, with access to their own info, and most info of other Active members (except things like birth year). |
| Inactive-xxx
Quit Moved Transfer AgedOut | Inactive for any of several reasons (can be used for analysis of why people leave).
Can access their own info, and choose to make their info available to Active members.
Once changed to Inactive, they cannot see info for other members, but may still choose
to subscribe to our online newsletter and thus need to be able to update their contact info.
By not deleting our former members, it is easier to re-instante them if they rejoin, and we automatically build up an alumni database. |
| State | a State level officer that is in our database only so we can send them our newsletter automatically. They are essentially treated as a non-member with respect to not having access to members private info except their own. |
| Guest | We don't use this, but it exists in case we wanted to enter info and track people that come as a guest but never join. |
| Special: ltm | Not a status per se, but a separate field which affects status. We reward certain members with Lifetime membership status. We still mark them as 'Inactive-xxx' when they age out (The Jaycees is limited to members being 21-40) or move, but this field allows them to still have access as if they were a member. |
| Special: jci | Not a status per se, but a separate field which affects status. We appoint certain members to the JCI Senate, and treat these members as Active even if they no longer are. |
| A member may only have one status type at a time (design choice perhaps.. the permissions are bit-mapped, allowing multiple at once, but the status field is not). | |
We have several yahoo groups for different types of email. To make things as easy as possible, the Tool will generate mail to the Yahoo email-interface for group management to allow members to add/remove themselves from the club lists, as well as change their delivery mode from normal to digest-mode, etc. These groups may be defined in the config file.
